Organization

The Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) is a governmental organization with head office in Curaçao, and branch offices in Bonaire and St. Maarten.It was founded as a separate Bureau in 1976.At this moment the CBS is part of the Ministry of Economic and Social Affairs.It serves all the islands of the Netherlands Antilles: Bonaire, Curaçao, St. Maarten, St. Eustatius and Saba.

Mission
The Central Bureau of Statistics is the independent and officially recognized provider of relevant statistical information on all social areas. This information is integrated, reliable, objective, complete, timely and accessible to the public.

Vision
The Central Bureau of Statistics intends to develop itself into the only officially appointed organization in the Netherlands Antilles to produce high quality statistical products. The Bureau wants to reach this goal with well-educated and well-motivated personnel. The personnel are acquainted with the latest technological and methodological processing techniques.

Tasks
To inform the community on her demographic and social-economic situation and the environment by means of statistical information.To accomplish this task the following products and services are offered:

  • Regular surveys
  • Regular publications and regular data collecting
  • Special data requests from regular data collections
  • Carry out third party surveys
  • Assistance to third party surveys
  • Expertise and technical assistance
